FTL Consultancy & Research For The
Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC)

YFTL have been commissioned by CWDC to carry out an independent national survey to establish the skills and needs of voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations in relation to their ability to contract for, and deliver children’s services.
CWDC exists to improve the lives of children, young people, their families and carers by ensuring that all people working with them have the best possible training, qualifications, support and advice. It also helps children and young people’s organisations and services to work together better so that the child is at the centre of all services.
This study is one of 13 projects/activities being undertaken through an 18 month national programme to engage the voluntary and community sector in making the Governments Every Child Matters – Agenda for Change a reality. The programme, VCS Engage, is being coordinated by the National Children’s Bureau and overseen by an infrastructure Consortium made up of a number of infrastructure organisations.
YFTL are carrying out a literature review with CWDC of key documents and reports containing information about contracting with the VCS, children and young people’s services and the Every Child Matters agenda. A questionnaire has been designed to carry out telephone research, one to one interviews and facilitate15 focus groups.
This is an exciting project for YFTL to be involved in and the outcome will benefit organisations across the country.
