Personal Development Through Healthy Lifestyles

Project for Solar School

The project was developed in conjunction with Chris Royle, Headteacher of Solar School, for young people at risk of being permanently excluded or would benefit from some time out to rise their self esteem and confidence. Throughout a varied programme of learning and discussion through sport, drama, teambuilding, sexual health, drug awareness, healthy eating and much more they have achieved the Bronze Youth Challenge Award.

Chris Royle has been impressed with the work done with these young people by YFTL and the impact the project has had on those young people,

Chris’s comments were;

“YFTL were very flexible in meeting our requirements and very reflective in their evaluation of what worked, and, what didn't.

This approach was, in my view, a key factor in a very successful programme with a group of young people who are not inclined to be positive about education.

A great success.”

Some of the Young People involved in the project said;

“Since I have been here I have learned how to control my behaviour and learned a lot more about myself and to respect people the way I would like to be respected.”

“I learnt how to make things and lots about people and never judge people.”

“I can’t believe I have done homework, I don’t do homework.”

“I have learnt to communicate with others.”

There have been four; six-week projects run since October 2006 with hard to reach young people attending from 11 schools in the Wirral area with high attendance and overwhelming achievement. 25 Young People at risk of exclusion started this unique project with 16 succeeding in achieving the Bronze Youth Challenge Award and learned about themselves and each other.

YFTL are able to run more of these projects or can tailor one specifically to suit your needs. Call us to discuss how we can be of service to you on, 01606 871164 or 0151 641 9888
