Child Protection Initiative

For anyone or organisation working with young people, Child Protection is of paramount importance. What is abuse?

“Abuse consists of anything which individuals, institutions or processes do or fail to do which directly or indirectly harms children or damages their prospects of a safe and healthy development into adulthood.”

(National Commission of Enquiry for the Prevention of Child Abuse, 1996.)

This means that if we do not make sure that our buildings are safe, the people we employ – voluntary or paid – are suitable, our delivery is appropriate and the policies we work to are up to date and appropriate we can be deemed as being part of the cycle of abuse. Every organisation working with young people must therefore have and implement their own Child Protection Policy.

Youth Federation Trading Ltd. can offer Learning Providers and individual members of staff with a combination of consultancy and/or training services in Child Protection covering:

Consultancy

  • Assessment, development and implementation of a Child Protection Policy including CRB disclosures.

Training

  • The management of Child Protection, particularly for identified Managers with Child protection responsibilities.
  • NSPCC Accredited Child Protection training for members of staff
  • Child Protection Training for young people undertaking Apprenticeships.
