Child Protection & Safeguarding

Aim

To develop participant’s knowledge, attitudes and understanding of child protection and safeguarding so that it is integrated into their work practices and procedures.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognised the signs and symptoms of abuse in young people
  • Crate a safe environment for working with children and young people.
  • Understand the content and make-up of a child protection policy and procedure.
  • Listen to and pass on appropriately a disclosure of abuse from a young person.

Introduction

Keeping children and young people safe from harm is everybody’s responsibility. If you work (paid or unpaid) with children and young people you now have a legal and moral obligation to ensure they are safe.

It is your organisation doing everything it can and should to keep young people safe? Do your policies and procedures protect young people from harm and your staff and volunteers from false accusations and misunderstandings?

This course has been developed specifically for anyone working with children and young people in small voluntary sector organisations and offers very practical advice on creating a culture of safety.
