Aim

To explore what is meant by “Quality Youth Work” in the context of small voluntary groups.

Learning Objectives

  • Why we do it
  • What it is
  • When and where it occurs
  • How we do it
  • Who can do it

Introduction

People get involved in Youth Work for many reasons. Maybe you have children for your own and want to provide activities for them and their friends. Maybe you’ve been coerced into helping out a friend, or maybe you’re concerned about the lack of provision for young people in your area.

Youth work helps young people learn about themselves, others and society, through informal education activities which combine enjoyment, challenge and learning.

This course has been developed for new volunteers and seasoned veterans to examine the morals, ethics and values behind youth work and offers practical suggestions that can enhance the delivery of youth work.
